Asad Qaiser also spoke in favor of developing inter-parliamentary relations between Russia and Pakistan and public diplomacy.
“The Pakistani government and the Pakistani people have a good attitude towards Russia, and therefore we are striving for people's diplomacy. There is a “friendship group” in the parliament [of Pakistan], we hope that Russia will take the next move,” said Asad Qaiser. The Chairman of the State Duma stated that ‘we will support all the forms we have in order to develop interaction along the parliamentary line.’
Asad Qaiser invited Viacheslav Volodin and members of the Russian delegation to visit Pakistan.
The Chairman of the State Duma stated that today's meeting will become the basis for a more effective development of relations between the Russian Federation and Pakistan. He also noted that the format of the Conference of Speakers of the Parliaments of Afghanistan, China, Iran, Pakistan, Russia and Turkey on counter-terrorism and strengthening regional cooperation has proven its effectiveness.
“We can effectively solve the issues of preserving peace, maintaining the security in the region only together,” said Viacheslav Volodin. He also expressed the hope that such forms of cooperation will develop, and invited Asad Qaiser to pay an official visit to Russia next year to take part in the International Forum on the Development of Parliamentarism.
“I invite you to pay an official visit to Russia next year. This will allow us to get to know each other better. You will learn more about our country, get to know our people,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
