Vyacheslav Volodin: Trump’s election victory was a big surprise for most of European leaders

According to Chairman of the State Duma, Trump, unlike the heads of European countries, prioritizes the interests of his country: he has a different vision of migration processes, a diametrically opposite to European attitude to transgender people and same-sex marriages, economic issues and world order

Trump's victory in the US presidential election was a big surprise for the vast majority of European leaders, as notes the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin

The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
in his Telegram channel.

“Moreover, they not only believed in the upcoming triumph of Biden, and then Harris, but they also did everything to make it happen. Including, they publicly supported them and at the same time they spoke negatively about the President Trump,” he added.

According to Vyacheslav Volodin, “Washington has constantly emphasized: foreign interference in the US presidential election is unacceptable, this is exclusively its business.” He added that Russia had the same view: interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states is unacceptable.

“But the heads of European countries believed that they could openly support their candidate. Many European leaders made such statements. Zelensky, who visited the United States and actively spoke against Trump, was also part of the group of supporters. As well as the leaders of the Baltic states. This was no coincidence. They had a lot in common,” emphasizes Vyacheslav Volodin.

As for Europe itself, there was chosen the model of development of supranational entities— the European Union, the European Parliament, PACE, and in recent years this course has been strongly strengthened, recalls the Chairman of the State Duma.

“According to this concept, the role of states of members of the EU should be minimal. European structures, including PACE, should have representatives of non-traditional orientation, which made it easier to control them. In fact, the European leaders themselves were preliminary selected. Many random people came to power. Among them is the failed comedian Zelensky,” noted Vyacheslav Volodin.

According to the Chairman of the State Duma, Trump’s attitude towards such leaders is more than critical: “He has serious successes in big business and politics, he definitely does not see himself on the same level with them.”

“Back to the European Union, it is important to note that its institutions replace the national governments of European countries. Support for the war in Ukraine was chosen not only as a unifying factor for European states, but also as a ‘friend/foe’ marker. If someone did not help the Kiev regime, they were subjected to the most severe obstruction and persecution. The same is true for the support for sanctions against Russia. If you do not support them, you are an enemy with the ensuing consequences,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin.

He noted that the propaganda machine used the principle of “those who do not support us are against us”: any media that had an alternative agenda were closed, they were accused of collaborating with the Russian Federation.

“And against this background, another candidate, Donald Trump, wins. And this happened not due to, but in spite. He has his own vision of migration processes, a diametrically opposite attitude to transgender people and same-sex marriages, and, of course, economic issues and world order,” emphasized the Chairman of the State Duma.

“They are now discussing: who does he support? Trump supports America. Putin supports Russia. This is absolutely obvious. But there is a question that existed before and still exists: who are the heads of European states for?” concluded Vyacheslav Volodin.
