The Commission on the Investigation of Foreign Interference in Russia’s Internal Affairs sent a letter to the President of the Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany Wolfgang Schäuble on Russia-Germany parliamentary control over the investigation of the incident with blogger Alexey Navalny. All members of the Commission, including its Chairman Vasilii Piskarev Piskarev Vasily Ivanovich Piskarev

, signed the letter.

The Commission, as emphasized in the document, ”states that the massive campaign launched by the Western media and a number of German politicians on the alleged poisoning of blogger Alexey Navalny by Russian authorities was premeditated, and had been intended to increase confrontation and undermine the development of Russia-Germany cooperation.“

Members of the State Duma noted effective inter-parliamentary cooperation with members of the Bundestag, and ”readiness to continue developing such cooperation.“ ”In this regard, we propose to create a joint commission or a working group which would consist of members of the Bundestag and the State Duma to exercise parliamentary control over the investigation of the incident with Alexey Navalny,“ the letter says.

“We hope that the German parliamentarians would take all necessary measures to encourage authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany to conduct an independent investigation on the territory of their country and cooperate with Russia, being transparent in this matter,” stressed members of Russian Parliament .
