The American parliamentarians’ appeals have a wrong addressee: there are no political prisoners in Russia but there are plenty in the USA,” said Leonid Slutskiy

He reminded about Viktor Bout, Konstantin Yaroshenko, Roman Seleznev, and many other Russian citizens who were unlawfully seized in third countries and placed in American prisons. “However all the requests of the Russian side to ease the conditions of their detention remain ignored even during the global pandemic. What rights are we talking about here?” added the parliamentarian.
“Russia has respected and is observing all basic human rights, pursuing a humane and balanced policy. Accusations of the contrary are biased, at least. And the demands for the release of those who were convicted and are serving a sentence under court decisions are direct interference in Russian justice, in the affairs of a sovereign state in general. We will not allow and will not tolerate any dictate from outside,” summed up Leonid Slutskiy.
