Viacheslav Volodin: decision of the UK Foreign Office to deny RT and Sputnik accreditations to Conference for Media Freedom is violation of the rights

The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
told journalists and stressed that “we will not agree with it.”

“We are outraged, because all the previous agreements and decisions indicate that we should guarantee the freedom of speech and information and our country is doing that and shows in its policy. But, as you see, there are the states that believe that these laws and international rules do not apply to them,” he said.

“Double standards have now become clearly evident in the US media policy, as well as in the UK, and in other countries,” stressed Viacheslav Volodin.

“As soon as our country became strong, as soon as our voice is heard, as soon as the voice of truth became dangerous, those countries that used to talk about democracy, reversed everything and said: no, it was all in the past, and now it is time for new standards”, he said and stressed that this is happening not only with the media, as the same situation took place at the meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly when an anti-Russian resolution was adopted even with a lack of quorum.
