part in these consultations on the part of the State Duma. Representatives of the Federation Council will also take part in the meetings, as the national
delegation includes representatives of both chambers of the Russian parliament,”
explained Viacheslav Volodin.
“It is important for us to discuss the issue of guarantees of equal membership in PACE, which are enshrined in the Statute of the Council of Europe, but are not reflected in the Regulations of the Parliamentary Assembly. We are taking steps to remedy the situation in connection with the decision of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in PACE. But it requires an analysis and possible risks forecasting,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
“We plan to discuss the results of these consultations with the leaders of the State Duma factions next week. After that, we will take a decision whether to apply for participation of our delegation in the PACE session in June” Viacheslav Volodin added.
