The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
and Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nigmatulin
held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly,
which takes place in Bishkek. The parties discussed the preparation for the 4th
Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments, which will be held in the capital of Kazakhstan Nur-Sultan this year.
Nurlan Nigmatulin told his Russian colleague that 48 states had already confirmed their participation in the meeting of the speakers, and forty of them will be headed by the speakers. “And this figure is increasing every day, which, of course, indicates the need for such a platform,” he said, adding that more than 60 parliamentary delegations are expected to attend this event, and 16 international inter-parliamentary organizations also confirmed their participation.
Viacheslav Volodin stressed that ”the number of those who wish to participate is unprecedented, and it is increasing every year.“ The first meeting initiated by the parliaments of Russia and South Korea was held in Moscow.
“Today we are achieving a completely different level. This format is quite effective. We need to gather and discuss issues of interregional development, economic development, and modernization of legislation,” the Chairman of the State Duma emphasized.
Viacheslav Volodin also invited Nurlan Nigmatulin to take part in the International Forum “Development of Parliamentarism”, which will be held in Moscow this summer. According to the Chairman of the State Duma this format also “provides an opportunity to discuss issues that concern us via the exchange of views.” “Discussing these issues, for our part we are doing everything to make parliamentarism a more effective form of decision-making and a form of dialogue,” he stressed.
In addition, the parties discussed the preparation for further meetings within the framework of the CSTO PA.
“This is more than a strategic partnership. This is an interaction and building a common work of countries to achieve collective security within a united CSTO platform. We must also improve this format to make it more efficient,” said Viacheslav Volodin.
