The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
said that ”there is neither sense nor logic“ in the decision of the Ukrainian authorities to include him in the sanctions list. “The decisions made today in Ukraine are absolutely not regulated either by their legislation or by international laws,” he said.

These are “empty decisions based on political populism that speak about the impotence of those who make them,” said Viacheslav Volodin, adding that “much lies in the logic of the election campaign, where one of the participants, President Petr Poroshenko, is an outsider.“

The Chairman of the State Duma believes that the decision on sanctions and the provocation in the Kerch Strait are actions of a politician “who wants to preserve personal power, and all this hysteria will be aggravated because he will not be able to win honestly”.

At the same time, Viacheslav Volodin stressed that ”one shall not symmetrically respond to stupidity and nonsense.“

“When we talk about Ukraine, we need to separate President Petr Poroshenko, authority and the people. When we make decisions, we take into account that 40 million citizens, whom we respect, with whom we have one history, culture, language, and all this is important for us, live in Ukraine,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.

Yesterday the authorities of Ukraine imposed sanctions on Chairman of the State Duma Viacheslav Volodin.

According to the parliamentarians, the inclusion of the Chairman of the State Duma in the sanctions list relates to his statements and the decision taken today by the State Duma to set up a working group to analyze the economic damage caused by Ukraine to Crimea and Sevastopol for 23 years.
