Members of the State Duma told about cooperation with Cuban parliamentarians on security, energy and tourism issues

During the meeting of the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin with the President of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernández, Russian parliamentarians exchanged views on the activities of working groups created within the framework of a bilateral inter-parliamentary commission.

noted the importance of organizing tourist trips for Russian citizens to Cuba. “The tourist flow is growing, but we believe that we still have a lot of capabilities for this in the interests of both Russian citizens and in the interests of Cuba, the Cuban economy,” he added.

He said that the countries had reached a number of important agreements, including related to increasing the number of direct flights between the two countries, the inclusion of Cuban hotels in the Russian electronic booking system, and the training of Cuban personnel for tourism industry in Russian universities.

“We should express gratitude to the Cuban side, as now the Mir paying cards can be used in Cuba, including where our tourists spend their vacations,” said Ivan Melnikov.

said that Russian and Cuban parliamentarians were in constant contact on issues of protecting sovereignty and countering foreign interference. Thus, in May, there was held a joint meeting of the relevant committees of the State Duma and the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba. “We exchanged best practices. Our countries stand for sovereign development and preservation of international security. We propose to defend our values together and build a legislative barrier against the negative impact of new challenges and threats,” said Vasily Piskarev. In addition, according to him, it is necessary to join efforts to protect children and adolescents from destructive influences, as well as to counter elections meddling.
