First joint meeting of the working group under the Inter-parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the National People's Congress and the State Duma was held in Beijing

Alexander Mikhailovich met with the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji in Beijing. The Russian parliamentarians came to China to participate in the first joint meeting of the working group under the Inter-parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the National People's Congress and the State Duma.

According to Alexander Babakov, they plan to discuss “issues of ensuring state sovereignty and security, countering foreign pressure and influence.”

“The task of the people’s representatives is to provide the executive authorities of their country with the necessary and sufficient legislative framework, which will allow, among other things, to counter these threats. In this regard, let me note some of the most pressing issues, in our opinion, that also require the attention of parliamentarians,” emphasized the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma.

On behalf of the deputy corps, the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma expressed gratitude to the People’s Republic of China and all the Chinese people for the support provided to Russia in these difficult days.

“We became victims of a monstrous, barbaric act of terror, which killed more than 130 peaceful, innocent citizens. The authorities are providing all necessary assistance to the victims of the tragedy. As for the investigation of this crime, as the President of Russia said in his address, all four direct perpetrators of the terrorist attack, all those who had shot and killed people, had been found and detained. They tried to hide and sneak into Ukraine, where, according to preliminary data, a window was prepared for them on the Ukrainian side to cross the state border. The crime is being investigated and all the details of the crime and the persons involved will be established,” said Alexander Babakov.

“We look forward to cooperating with all states that sincerely share our pain and are ready to really join efforts to fight the common enemy — international terrorism and all its manifestations,” concluded the parliamentarian.
