In Nanjing, the Chairman of the State Duma is expected to meet with the leadership of Jiangsu province, visit the Nanjing University, and high-tech industrial enterprises in the region. Issues of interregional cooperation and the development of economic ties between Russia and China will be discussed.
During the meeting, Vyacheslav Volodin noted the significant increase of foreign trade cooperation between Russia and China: “The foreign trade volumes of our cooperation have grown significantly: in 2023, a year earlier than planned, we will reach more than $200 billion in trade turnover.” “For Russia, China is the number one trading partner. Our country is among the ten largest trade and economic partners for China,” he added.
In addition, according to the Chairman of the State Duma, Russia and China “have reached an unprecedented level of mutual payments in national currencies: this level is 95%.” “Of course, we should not stop, we have everything to make it better,” he said and added that the leaders of the states Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping had created the basis for the development of relations between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China and laid down the principle of openness, which “allows us to discuss any issues”. “It is very important for us to make the parliamentary dimension effective, make the contribution to the development of relations,” he said. Also, “interregional interaction is an important factor,” in this regard, the visit to Nanjing is important. “We would be glad to visit and learn more about one of the most industrial, one of the most efficient provinces of China, Jiangsu,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
