The Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin
Vyacheslav Victorovich The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast) held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at the State Duma.
Issues of development of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Russia and Kuwait and the situation in the Gaza Strip were discussed at the meeting.
“We should develop parliamentary dimension to complement the relations established by the leaders of our states,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin.
The Chairman of the State Duma noted the fact that Russia was building relations with other states on the principles of mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of other states.
“The world is facing many challenges. We see that the institutions of the United Nations have been weakened. Those agreements that were reached many years ago actually are not longer applied. The desire to build a unipolar world has created many new challenges and threats. The UN institutions should be strengthened. In this regard, the dialogue between our states plays an increasingly important role,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.
Vyacheslav Volodin noted Russia’s concerns about the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip: “We, for our part, have recently adopted an appeal to the United Nations on the inadmissibility of bombings killing civilians – children, women and elderly people.”
The Chairman of the State Duma asked to convey greetings and warm wishes to the Speaker of the National Assembly of Kuwait Ahmed Abdulaziz al-Sadoun and an invitation to pay an official visit to Russia: “There are many issues to discuss. We should find common ground, not fault lines in the dialogue.”
“We have fairly strong relations with Russia, I would even call them historical,” said Salem Al-Sabah. He recalled that in 2023 was the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kuwait and the USSR.
“The world is facing serious challenges and threats today. I am convinced that Russia will play a very important role in countering and addressing the various crises on a global scale,” added Salem Al-Sabah.
