recalled in his Telegram channel that if you want to understand better the reasons for what is happening in Nagorno-Karabakh, you should pay attention to the previously made decisions.

“A year ago, in October 2022, there was held a meeting in Prague under the auspices of the European Union, where Armenia and Azerbaijan reaffirmed their commitment to the UN Charter and the Alma-Ata Protocol of the CIS of 1991,” he stressed.

That meant, as added the Chairman of the State Duma, that “both states recognized each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty within the borders of the former Soviet republics, when Nagorno-Karabakh was part of the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic”.

“In a word, Nikol Pashinyan accepted the fact that Nagorno-Karabakh is a territory of Azerbaijan,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.

“Then in May 2023 that fact was agreed once again in Brussels at another summit under the auspices of the European Union and the territories of both states were marked with an accuracy of up to one square meter,” posted the Chairman of the State Duma.

According to Vyacheslav Volodin, those decisions confirm that Baku is legally conducting activities on its territory. “The situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region is an internal affair of Azerbaijan,” he stressed.

“At the same time, it is important to ensure the rights and safety of the civilians living in the region. Our country always supports political and diplomatic resolutions of the conflicts. Russian peacekeepers are doing everything necessary to provide medical and humanitarian assistance to the people living in the Nagorno-Karabakh region,” concluded Vyacheslav Volodin.
