The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
at the first plenary meeting of the autumn plenary session. “More than 17.5 thousand sanctions have been imposed since 2013. The USA promised to tear Russian economy to shreds. But we see another situation: the Russian Federation, despite all the challenges, has become the fifth world largest economy. That is the World Bank data based on 2022 results,” he added.

The Chairman of the State Duma emphasized that “our country has not only survived, but also strengthened its position, while the USA is no longer the first world largest economy dropped to the second place giving the leading position to China. Germany is the sixth world economy, while Russia in on the fifth place, Indonesia is the seventh and Brazil is the eight world economy.”

“The European states lost their sovereignty and became vassals of the United States of America have punished themselves. Their economies are weak now : France and the UK dropped to the ninth and tenth places. These are the results of the 10 years sanctions imposed illegally on the Russian Federation. Our country is the leader among all the European states and has become the largest European economy,” added Vyacheslav Volodin.

According to the Chairman of the State Duma, those results do not mean that we just should relax and go with the stream: “There are still a lot of issues to deal with. By overcoming the challenges, we become stronger.”

“The President has set a task of building a proactive, sovereign national economy that not only responds to market conditions and changes in demand, but also creates them itself. This is a very important and responsible task for us, which we should try to solve together with the Government. This means that it is necessary to develop productive forces and the service sector, create modern facilities and entire industries, including those based on advanced technologies,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.
