The State Duma adopted laws to protect Russian citizens from international organizations issuing decisions that contradict the national legislation

Members of the State Duma adopted in the second and third readings amendments on the protection of citizens of the Russian Federation from international organizations issuing decisions that contradict the national legislation. The relevant legislative initiatives were adopted in connection with the illegal actions of the international organizations, including the International Criminal Court, as said the Chairman of the State Duma: a penalty of up to 5 years of imprisonment had been introduced for assisting in executing decisions issued by those interstate organizations on the criminal prosecution of our military personnel and volunteers, officials or public authority bodies.

The President of the Russian Federation has been empowered to protect our country and its citizens in case when those foreign structures make illegal decisions or take actions against the Russian Federation, according to Vyacheslav Volodin.

Adopted laws

According to the proposed amendments to the Federal Law “On Security”, the President of Russia is empowered to take measures to protect the Russian Federation and its citizens “in case when foreign and (or) international (interstate) bodies (organizations) make decisions or take actions that are contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation and (or) the fundamentals of the public law and order of the Russian Federation”.

According to the amendments to the Criminal Code, there will be a new article 284.3. According to it, individuals assisting in executing decisions of international organizations, and Russia is not a member of that organization, or foreign state authorities on the criminal prosecution of officials of public authorities of the Russian Federation in connection with the performance of official duties, as well as other persons in connection with military service or being volunteers contributing to the fulfillment of the objectives of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will be fined of 300 thousand to 1 million rubles or sentenced for up to 5 years.
