The head of the Russian delegation, the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Sergey Neverov Neverov Sergey Ivanovich Neverov
Sergey Ivanovich
called on the world parliamentarians at the session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) to join efforts to prevent a nuclear catastrophe that could be caused by shelling by Ukrainian militants of the infrastructure of nuclear power plants.

“The Kiev Nazi regime is committing terrorist attacks against civilians, shelling the critical infrastructure of nuclear power plants. Such actions could lead to tragedy, a nuclear catastrophe. It is important for us to do everything to prevent such situations,” said Sergey Neverov at the plenary session.

He recalled that Washington had blocked the adoption by the UN Security Council of a resolution on the creation of a commission on investigation into the US military biological activities on the territory of Ukraine, as those activities posed a threat to all mankind.

“Let me recall that Russian experts have revealed the facts of US military biological activity on the territory of Ukraine. There have also been revealed facts of violation by the United States of America of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development and Stockpiling of Chemical Weapons,” stressed the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma. “Washington and its satellites, as it was expected, blocked the adoption by the UN Security Council of a resolution introduced by our country on the creation of a commission which could investigate those crimes. That means that they have something to hide. The Russian parliament appealed to its foreign colleagues and adopted a statement on the inadmissibility of developing biological and toxin weapons,” he added.

The main topic of the session is the development of multilateral cooperation in a rapidly changing world, and all participants understand that the Western world uses double standards, according to Sergey Neverov. “That was also stated by Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Mustafa Şentop, and he is absolutely right that we must make the format of interaction more effective: there should be initiatives to solve the problems of Asian countries coming from the countries of the region, taking into account socio-cultural features,” said the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma.

Sergey Neverov stressed that sanctions and creating barriers to the full participation of parliamentary delegations in the activities of international associations “is unacceptable”. “The US is trying to restrain the development of other states to maintain its hegemony. This approach is used in relation to all our countries, and we will do everything to protect our sovereignty and develop relations on the principles of non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states. Washington and Brussels are interested in the escalation of conflicts, destruction of traditional values and religion in order to take a person away from the family and society, leave this person alone with the problems and make dependent,” he stressed.

The 13th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly is chaired by the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Mustafa Şentop, started on January 8. Parliamentary delegations from 27 countries take part in the session. The Russian delegation also consists of representatives of the State Duma, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Issues of the Commonwealth of Independent States and Contacts with Fellow Countryman Kazbek Taysaev Taysaev Kazbek Kutsukovich Taysaev
