Members of the State Duma at the plenary session adopted the text of the appeal to the UN General Assembly, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the European Parliament and the parliaments of the foreign states on the threat to peace and stability in Europe coming from Ukraine.

“The irresponsible actions do not leave the population of several regions of Ukraine any other option than appealing to Russia to protect them and provide assistance. Members of the State Duma appeal to the UN General Assembly, sane politicians and parliamentarians of foreign states to carefully consider and strongly condemn the dangerous actions of the United States of America and NATO, encouraging the Kiev regime to start a large-scale military confrontation that can lead to death of thousands of civilians, threatening peace and security of the European people ”, the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky Slutsky Leonid Eduardovich Slutsky

read out the draft text of the appeal.

The appeal also states that “the Kiev regime, encouraged by the USA and NATO, is developing military activities, bringing the situation to the brink of a large-scale bloody confrontation.”

“The forces that carried out a coup d'état in Ukraine in 2014 finally have abandoned the idea of the peaceful resolution of the internal Ukrainian conflict. Members of the State Duma note with regret that Russia’s efforts, which has been countering the genocide of the population of Donbass for eight years, have been to no avail,” Leonid Slutsky quoted the text of the document.

He added that the current conditions did not let Russia live safely, as NATO continued to expand eastwards and there were new threats coming from Ukraine, and there were even nuclear blackmail attempts. “The special military operation, started at the end of February 2022, in full compliance with chapter 7 Article 51 of the UN Charter, is going on, and NATO member states are continuously supplying mass lethal weapons to Ukraine, sending foreign mercenaries there,” the parliamentarian said.

The document was prepared at the instruction of the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin

to state once again Russia's position on the issue of a special military operation aimed at protecting Donbass.

“Our country has not yet been at war, we are protecting those people who live in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, the Russian World. They must finally understand that if they do not change their position, if they do not stop sending weapons and mercenaries to Ukraine, they will have problems tomorrow,” Vyacheslav Volodin said earlier.
