The Chairman of the State Duma posted on his Telegram channel that an expression “an Englishwoman ruins things” arose in our country in the 19th century, and it was widely used to refer to the regular British intrigues against Russia.

“Centuries have passed, but the phrase is still alive and relevant,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin

The Chairman of the State Duma also noted a number of historical facts. For example, the UK and its allies the Ottoman Empire and France, tried to weaken the Russian Empire and seize part of the territories during the Crimean War of 1853–1856, the UK also supported the Japanese side during the Russo-Japanese War and financed Russian revolutionaries who held several meetings in London.

After World War I, Great Britain, together with France, sought to create a cordon sanitaire in Europe to isolate the USSR, and before World War II started, it tried to direct the expansion of Nazi Germany eastwards.

Later, during the Afghan war, the UK provided support to Islamist militants, and in the early 2000s kept a number of criminals who were subject to criminal prosecution in Russia.

According to the Chairman of the State Duma, London is trying to persuade Europe to continue to fight against Russia to the last Ukrainian, stating that “any attempt to resolve the conflict in Ukraine will only lead to increasing instability in the world.” “The reason is just the habit of living at the expense of others, and the UK will not break this habit,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin.

He added that being the world's first economy at the end of the 19th century (its share of GDP was almost 25% of the world GDP), the UK is the 9th economy now, behind its former colony India (which ranks the third).

London “tries to use any opportunity to assert itself,” making a fuss: it either withdraws from the European Union or seeks new alliances with Russophobic regimes in Poland, the Baltic states, and Ukraine in order at least to “be a leader somewhere,” emphasized the Chairman of the State Duma.

“Colonial revanchism will not do any good. For England, the sun of empire has set forever,” concluded Vyacheslav Volodin.
