“The BSPC permanent members are the parliaments of Germany, Denmark, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Finland, Sweden and Estonia. There is almost no cooperation with the parliamentarians of most of these countries either within the framework of organization or inter-parliamentary channels.
The responsibility for breaking parliamentary ties lies with those politicians who undermine the basic principles of the Conference and use it as an opportunity to offend Russia.
The BSPC activities have always been built on an equal basis, and decisions have been adopted by consensus. However, the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference halted real cooperation, and its member states forgot about the interests of their nations.
It used to be a useful
format of multilateral dialogue, but it has been turned into a tool of anti-Russian
policy. That would render meaningless any further interaction within the framework of the BSPC,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin
