“It is necessary to do everything to make a peaceful, democratic and sovereign state. Non-bloc, nuclear-free and independent Ukraine,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.

According to him, citizens of Ukraine will make their own decision on their country’s future borders.

The Chairman of the State Duma recalled that there was a bloody coup d'état in Ukraine in 2014 and as a result, Crimea decided not to be a part of Ukraine anymore.

“Citizens, in accordance with all international requirements and norms, have decided to live on the territory which is a part of the Russian Federation. The Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics have decided not to be parts of Ukraine and become independent,” he said and noted the fact that many people in the western parts of Ukraine had already gotten Polish and Hungarian passports.

“Maybe they also want to live in other states and not in Ukraine? And there is an issue of people's decision-making process: what kind of decision will those people make?” said the Chairman of the State Duma.

Speaking about the future of the liberated territories, Vyacheslav Volodin Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin

stressed that everything would also depend on the will of the citizens.

“The tasks are very specific. I will emphasize them once again. This is non-bloc, nuclear-weapons-free, without Nazi ideology, demilitarized Ukraine. And, of course, it is important that Ukraine should recognize independence of DPR and LPR, as well as the current Crimea status,” he concluded.
