The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
posted on his Telegram channel that some European countries were considering should they buy or not Russian gas for rubles. In this matter, “someone refers to the European Union: if the EU authorities call such procedure sanctions-busting, we will not pay, if they say the opposite, we will pay.”

“In this regard, the European states should understand the following. First of all, the sanctions against the Russian Federation are illegal. We will revisit the subject and asses the damage and impact on our economy. You will have to compensate it anyway. How and when is a matter of time,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.

“Secondly, you should understand that you are not the only consumers of Russian energy resources. Our country has other ways where to sell them. Especially that you are bad partners,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma. He added that the European countries constantly appropriated gas reserves, got money from the budget of the Russian Federation, and from Russian citizens. In addition, the European states’ authorities emphasize that they will find other suppliers of energy resources, thus they will put an end to long-term cooperation with Russia.

“Here the question arises: what is our interest? To save you? But we see your boorish attitude towards our country and people, the soaring Russophobia that you launched, thus, there is no desire to do that,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin.

He is convinced that European politicians have a chance to demonstrate responsibility to their citizens, to prevent a collapse in the energy supplies sector and rising prices, as their imprudent actions have already led to such situation.

“Our country has adapted to the challenges. But whether your states, used to live carefree at the expense of Russia, are ready to the challenges, only time will tell,” he concluded.
