Vyacheslav Volodin: Fidel Castro is a planetary-known figure
Chairman of the State Duma noted the Comandante’s role in liberation of Cuba and stressed that “Russian people honor his memory”

The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
and members of the State Duma visited the Fidel Castro
Ruz Center in Havana, a museum showcasing moments of life and legacy of the leader of the Cuban revolution. The exposition includes rare photographs and personal items of the Comandante.
“Despite the blockade, Cuba is still alive. That is the greatest legacy of Fidel Castro, despite all the challenges and problems. He is a planetary-known figure,” said Vyacheslav Volodin.
The Chairman of the State Duma emphasized that “people in the Soviet Union loved him and people in Russia also love him and honor his memory”.
“Fidel Castro was always with the people and had done everything to make Cuba independent. Many countries followed his example. And everything that Fidel Castro had done is still relevant today,” Vyacheslav Volodin stressed.
On February 23, the Chairman of the State Duma is paying an official visit to Cuba. It is also planned that Vyacheslav Volodin will hold a meeting with the President of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernández.
