The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
and the Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Kochanova
discussed the decisions adopted at the meeting of the 61st session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia on December 2, as well as integration processes within the framework of the Union State and the migration
crisis at the border between Belarus and Poland.
“We proceed from the fact that there are still a lot of capabilities of the Parliamentary Assembly. Speaking about integration: our integration processes are still far from the integration achievements, for example, of the European Union,” said Vyacheslav Volodin. He stressed that states and nations should benefit from integration processes.
“Today we have agreed to review the structure of the Parliamentary Assembly to enhance its efficiency,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
“The parliamentary structure should be more flexible, more efficient and final results-oriented,” stressed Vyacheslav Volodin.
He also mentioned the statement adopted by the members of the Parliamentary Assembly on the migration crisis at the border between Belarus and Poland.
“We consider double standards and interference in the sovereign affairs of other states inadmissible. There is an absolute understanding that those who should be responsible for the refugees' attempts are trying to put their blame on the Belarusian people. And there are accusations against the President of Belarus, and we consider that unacceptable. That goes beyond international relations. And in this regard, it was unanimously decided to convey our position to all our colleagues and parliaments of other countries,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
Vyacheslav Volodin paid an official visit to Minsk on December 2. This is his first official visit as the Chairman of the State Duma of the eighth convocation. Earlier, he met with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko.
