“The current
situation was caused by the long-term political course of the United States and the European Union in the Middle East,” Vyacheslav Volodin

The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
wrote in his Telegram
channel, commenting on the situation on the border between Belarus and Poland.
He stressed that most of the refugees came from those countries where NATO troops were deployed to help to build democracy on their own model by imposing their own standards.
“Libya, Iraq, Syria — none of these states have benefited from the international expansion of the Western states. And now the citizens of these countries are forced to seek refuge,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
He stressed that the European Union was reluctant to help Belarus in the current situation, while the EU authorities had earlier provided assistance to Turkey or Italy in almost the same situations.
“We see that there is absolutely different situation. They allowed Poland contravening all humanistic values to use gas and firearms against people. And there are no statements condemning such radical actions. They are sabre-rattling instead and threaten Belarus with new sanctions. How can it be called if not double standards?” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.
“In this situation, it would be right if international organizations, such as the Council of Europe, PACE, OSCE and the European Parliament, stop shifting responsibility and help refugees,” he said.
“For our part, we will continue to support Belarus, which is in a difficult situation and has to deal with an influx of migrants. The position of the country's leadership deserves respect. I cannot say the same about those states created the problem by their actions,” said the Chairman of the State Duma. He added that this issue would certainly be discussed at the upcoming session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia.
