Vyacheslav Volodin: we need to adopt dozens of laws to implement decisions on integration of Russia and Belarus

On November 4, Presidents of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus at the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State signed Integration Decree, as well as approved 28 union programs, Military Doctrine and Migration Policy Concept

The Chairman of the State Duma wrote in his Telegram channel that the issues of implementation of the adopted decisions should be discussed at the next meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State.

The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
called that an important event for the citizens of Russia and Belarus. Presidents Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko are doing everything possible to ensure that such decisions will help to make lives of citizens of both states better. Thus, the approved programs are aimed at improving the well-being of citizens of the countries and the formation of a single economic space.

He added that the parliaments of Russia and Belarus should do a lot to continue unification of the legislation of the two countries to implement the outlined sectoral union programs.

“In this regard, it enhances responsibility of the parliamentarians of the Union of Belarus and Russia, as we need to adopt dozens of legislative decisions to implement the agreements. The effectiveness of the integration between our countries will depend on their quality and speed of their adoption,” wrote Vyacheslav Volodin.

He added that joint steps of providing legislative support to the decisions of the presidents of the two countries and development of a road map for participation of parliamentarians in the implementation of integration processes should be discussed at the next meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State. He is convinced that it is necessary to enhance cooperation between relevant committees of the State Duma and the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.

“It is important that such work should be efficient, using new formats, including online. That would help to address all the emerging issues as quickly as possible even during the pandemic,” stressed the Chairman of the State Duma.

He added that the delegation of representatives of the State Duma to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State would be changed in connection with the recent elections to the State Duma.

“We plan to discuss all those issues at the meeting of the Council of the State Duma on Monday. We will also discuss those issues with our Belarusian colleagues next week,” said Vyacheslav Volodin.

Priority to interests of citizens

The Chairman of the State Duma also recalled that a month ago the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling on the European Union to impose additional restrictive measures against Russia if Russian authorities continued to support Minsk. The document said that the European Parliament “condemns the negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko on the preparation of road maps aimed at increasing integration between Belarus and Russia.”

“What was the reason for such decisions? Obviously, they are afraid that people will live better and countries will become stronger,” wrote Vyacheslav Volodin.

“But when a state has its own sovereignty, it prioritizes the interests of its citizens, and not the resolutions adopted in Strasbourg,” concluded the Chairman of the State Duma.
