The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
met with the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative
Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf in Tehran and discussed issues of Russia-Iran inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as enhancement
of trade and economic relations.
“Our cooperation at the parliamentary level is developing in various formats, in particular, within the framework of the High-Level Inter-parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the State Duma and the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran. We continue to cooperate even during the pandemic. It is very important for us to discuss and resolve all the outstanding matters,” said Viacheslav Volodin.
“For our part, we should do everything to make relations between our countries more dynamic and to reach new level of cooperation,” stressed Viacheslav Volodin.
The Chairman of the State Duma said that cooperation should be built in the interests of our countries. “There are no double standards in our relations, they are based on the principles of friendship and trust,” he added.
The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran thanked the Chairman of the State Duma for coming to the inauguration ceremony of the elected President of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi.
The meeting participants also discussed the need to continue cooperation within the framework of the Conference of Speakers of the Parliaments on Countering Terrorism and Strengthening Regional Connectivity with participation of representatives of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the People's Republic of China, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Turkey. “That format had proven its effectiveness,” stressed Viacheslav Volodin.
On behalf of the President of the Russian Federation, the Chairman of the State Duma arrived in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of the elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi. He had earlier met with Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and conveyed greetings from the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
