The decision to appeal to the Bundestag and the OPCW was taken after the meeting of members of the State Duma Commission on the Investigation of Foreign Interference in Russia's Internal Affairs with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation held at the Russian Foreign Ministry on Friday, July 16.

The parliamentarians discussed with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov inconsistencies in the OPCW draft report. Members of the State Duma said that the report “contains information that actually proves that the so-called “poisoning” of Alexei Navalny was the result of a staged campaign to accuse Russia of using a nerve chemical agent.”

The State Duma Commission sent appeals to the Bundestag and the OPCW “to establish the truth in this case”.

“We would like to ask our colleagues from the Bundestag to encourage the executive authorities to cooperate with Russia and provide legal assistance,” stressed Vasilii Piskarev.
