During the meeting, the speakers of the parliaments also discussed the issue of the deterioration of the situation in Afghanistan. The CSTO PA Council at the meeting on Thursday, July 1, adopted a statement calling on the political forces for reconciliation.
Earlier, Viacheslav Volodin held a meeting with the Speaker of the House of the People of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mir Rahman Rahmani at the State Duma on 18 February 2020. During the meeting, the speakers discussed issues of Russia-Afghanistan cooperation, including, ensuring security, countering terrorism and drug trafficking.
