That was announced by the Chairman of the State Duma during the discussion of the statement of the State Duma “On the initiative of the Ukrainian authorities not to recognize the Russian and other peoples as indigenous peoples in Ukraine.”

“As for Ukraine, the decision should be tougher. In fact, we should be more specifically in the issue of protection of rights and freedoms. Representatives of PACE and OSCE should not only monitor the actions of the Ukrainian authorities and analyze the results, but also should monitor the situations in other states,” said the Chairman of the State Duma. He stressed that the Ukrainian authorities tried to override the fundamental rights of citizens.

He gave an example of the situation in Crimea: when the Crimean Peninsula reunited with Russia, “the peoples in Crimea were immediately given the right to speak their native language, including the Ukrainians and the Crimean Tatars.”

“All the problems in Ukraine are caused by those people who have seized power and are trying to keep it by any possible means, who have launched a fratricidal war. There are so many active nationalist movements there,” said the Chairman of the State Duma. He stressed that international organizations should not ignore that, but such situation was normal for them.

“Colleagues, we should state once again: we will not allow the violation of the rights and freedoms of citizens in any state, whether it is Ukraine, or European states, or the United States of America. It is time to put that issue in order,” concluded Viacheslav Volodin.
