“That statement of the European Parliament is a flagrant interference in the affairs of Belarus,” stressed Viacheslav Volodin Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin

According to him, ”the resolution was not only a flagrant interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state, but also an attempt to decide for the citizens of Belarus.”

“The authorities have been democratically elected in the Republic of Belarus,” said Viacheslav Volodin. “The parliamentary elections were held in November last year. International observers took part in the elections and declared the legitimacy of the elections,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.

“Any attempt to supplant or replace government bodies casts doubt on the activities of the European Parliament,” the Chairman of the State Duma stressed. “If we compare this resolution with other recent actions of Western states, the accusations against Russia will become obvious.

Western states understand that Russia would prevent violations of international law, especially in that case when there are treaty relations within the framework of the CSTO and the Union State, and that will not allow undermining the sovereignty of Belarus. Against this background, the reason of a provocation with Alexey Navalny is obvious — to impose new sanctions and block the actions of our country protecting Belarus.“

“After the statements of the European Parliament, we can say that the intelligence services of foreign states are responsible for what happened to Alexey Navalny. And if Western countries take into account concepts such as democracy, international law and legislation, they should take measures of responsibility for those who had initiated such decisions in the European Parliament,” added Viacheslav Volodin. “Therefore, I once again propose the Bundestag to discuss within the framework of the parliamentary dimension if their special services and officials were involved in that situation. It would be right for other European parliaments to deal with this issue as well”.
