New law to simplify procedure of employment for foreign students in Russia

Relevant amendments to the legislation come into force on August 5. Those amendments allow foreign citizens studying at Russian universities and professional training colleges to get a job without unnecessary difficulties. How does the law simply the procedure of employment for foreign students?

In accordance with the law, foreign citizens, who are full-time students at Russian universities or professional training colleges with state accreditation, have the right to get a job in a simplified manner without having to obtain a patent or special permit.

“They will be able to get a job on the basis of a labor or civil contract,” explained the Chairman of the State Duma Viacheslav Volodin.

Are there any constraints?

If a student completes or terminates the education process, a concluded employment contract should be terminated too.

Why is the law so important?

According to the Chairman of the State Duma, the law will increase educational opportunities for foreign students in Russia.

“This will allow us to solve the task set by the President at least to double the number of foreign citizens studying at Russian universities and professional training colleges. Many students would like to acquire practical skills in their chosen profession and to get additional income, so they are ready to work in their spare time,” said Viacheslav Volodin.
