“The results of the Normandy Four Paris summit exceeded expectations. We can say that the negotiations, which lasted for more than seven hours, have unblocked and restarted the peace process in the Donbass,” said Leonid Slutskiy Slutsky Leonid Eduardovich Slutsky

According to the parliamentarian, an important outcome is the signing of agreements on the implementation of the Steinmeier Formula in Ukrainian legislation, exchange of individuals on “all for all” principle before the end of the year, and a ceasefire.

“The most important thing, in my opinion, is the reaffirmation by the leaders of the Normandy Four of their commitment to the Minsk Agreements. There shouldn’t be an alternative to Minsk II, nor it should be broken to please Ukrainian nationalists,” he said.

“But, of course, a global breakthrough did not happen. It could not be. President Zelensky speaks of a ”standoff.“ Whether that is true or not, only the course of further settlement in the South-East of Ukraine and the political will of the new leadership in Kiev to resolve the conflict will show. It is important for all of us to prevent the deterioration of the situation, human conditions, it is important to do everything that peace finally will come to residents of the republics of Donbass,” stressed Leonid Slutskiy.
