The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
stressed in his speech on October 24 at a meeting of the the European Conference of Presidents of Parliaments in Strasbourg we
will mark an important date — the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great
Patriotic War — in May next year. As the Chairman emphasized in his speech, it
would be right for us to consider this holiday as a tribute to those who
remained buried in different European countries, protected the world from
fascism, giving us the opportunity to sit in this hall today,” Sergei Neverov
recalled.
He said that the members of the State Duma’s Committee on Issues of the CIS and Contacts with Fellow Countrymen are developing the program of the International Torch of Remembrance and Gratitude “Homeland of the Feat to Homeland of the Hero”: “The goal of this project is to establish cooperation between cities and villages of the countries of the CIS countries and distant foreign countries, where our soldiers performed feats liberating from Nazi invaders, and those human settlements where the future heroes of the Fatherland were brought up.”
The head of the faction believes that parliamentarians from all countries of the Commonwealth will be interested in participating in this project. He invited all guests from the CIS countries to learn more about this wonderful initiative and join it.
“A new form of inter-parliamentary cooperation has been developed in recent years — inter-factional cooperation. Factions of political parties represented in the parliaments have opportunity to unleash the potential of inter-party unions and agreements concluded between political parties of the CIS countries,” stressed Sergei Neverov.
