“What is happening in Bolivia is the result of a campaign orchestrated far beyond La Paz. I have no doubts that external forces (it is not difficult to guess who initiated this) stoke up the opposition. It is well-known that the US called for active mobilization against the elected head of state, Evo Morales,” said Leonid Slutskiy Slutsky Leonid Eduardovich Slutsky

He noted that, as a result, “according to an already familiar pattern, [the presidential election] became the ground to organize another “color revolution” leading the situation beyond the legal framework.”

At the same time, the parliamentarian emphasized, “Morales himself considered the events as a coup d'etat and, obviously, he had every reason for this.”

“As a result, the President of Bolivia was forced to resign. But Morales acted as a real statesman, without plunging his country into a bloody civil confrontation. This is the choice of a patriot who thinks primarily about the well-being of his fellow citizens,” said Leonid Slutskiy.

“It is important for other sides in Bolivia to recognize the need for the peaceful development of the political process, the holding of honest and legitimate elections in the absence of outside interference, and the restoration of the work of all state structures. Otherwise, a new war-torn center may appear on the map of Latin America,” concluded the Chairman of the Committee.
