“First of all, I would like to thank those people who came to my rescue wishing to resolve this issue as soon as possible — these are employees of the diplomatic mission in the USA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and this, of course, Anatoly Antonov, our Ambassador to the USA, who showed perseverance and efficiency,” said Inga Iumasheva Iumasheva Inga Albertovna Iumasheva

. She thanked the leadership of the State Duma, the Committee on International Affairs, all colleagues, Office staff and friends.

“In such not very pleasant situations, you really feel our unity, our human readiness to help and support. This is very precious,” she said.

Inga Iumasheva also thanked “those reasonable Americans who, despite everything, approached me and were also outraged by what had happened. Someone even apologized for the actions of New York airport employees and for the absence of hospitality that I faced.“ Inga Iumasheva said that when she arrived at the Fort Ross Dialogue conference, she was approached by ”the conference organizers, ordinary Americans, and officials who expressed their indignation and who were furious about what happened.“

She noted that she did not expect “to meet an officer, who suggested going into an isolated room and interrogated, upon arrival”, and she called the incident an unpleasant and unexpected episode.

“We should understand: there are American nation with a great history, with traditions of hospitality that are very similar to our Russian traditions, and there are actions and positions of individual political circles who are trying to play on the contradictions in the Russian-American system,” Inga Iumasheva said and stressed that in American society there is common sense, people who are willing to interact with Russia and understand the necessity of effective cooperation.

“We should not slip into anti-American hysteria. We should be more reasonable than our partners,” said the parliamentarian.

“We are waiting for all the participants of the Fort Ross Dialog conference in Russia in the summer next year and assure that no one will be interrogated in an isolated room. Russia openly conducts a dialogue,” concluded Inga Iumasheva.
