On 19 September the State Duma Committee on International Affairs held a meeting with a delegation of parliamentarians of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation and interaction on international platforms. The upcoming Russia-Africa summit that will take place in Sochi on October 23–24 was separately discussed.
Chairman of the Committee Leonid Slutskiy

Leonid Eduardovich
proposed to hold a joint meeting of the international affairs committees of the State Duma and the Egyptian
parliament after Sochi meetings. “Following the upcoming summit in Sochi, we
could hold a joint meeting of our committees at the end of this year or at the beginning of the next one in Moscow or Cairo,” he said.
In his turn, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of Egypt, Karim Darvish, supported this proposal and declared his readiness for regular inter-parliamentary contacts with members of the State Duma. “We fully support your initiative and will be happy to receive you next year at any convenient time. We will be happy to begin a cycle of such meetings at the level of our committees,” Karim Darvish noted.
