Vasilii Piskarev told about the tasks of the new Commission of the State Duma

The first meeting of the Commission on the investigation of the foreign states' interference in the Russia's internal affairs was held in the State Duma. It will analyze and study data on foreign interference in the internal affairs of our country, as well as defend Russia's sovereignty on international platforms

recalled, the decision to create this Commission was made on an appeal of the leaders of all four factions of the State Duma, and “there were reasons for these appeals.”

“New materials on the work of the Commission are available to us,” he said.

“The regulations on the Commission were approved, which defines our tasks and powers,” said Vasilii Piskarev.

“The task of the Commission is to study and analyze the information that we have already received, and the information that we will get about new sources, data and circumstances of interference of foreign states in our internal affairs,” he added.

He stressed that members of the Commission will share the information with the public, parliaments of other states, ”work openly, transparently“ and will ”defend the sovereignty in international organizations, like UN, PACE and other inter-parliamentary and international organizations“.

Vasilii Piskarev recalled that ”there is the UN Charter, there is Declaration on the Inadmissibility of Intervention in the Domestic Affairs of States and the Protection of Their Independence and Sovereignty, adopted by resolution 2131 on December 21, 1965 by the UN General Assembly.“

”If necessary, we are ready to develop legislative initiatives to protect our sovereignty. If there is a reason for that, we will apply to our law enforcement agencies to make legal assessment of certain actions“, Vasilii Piskarev said.

”We are going to invite both Russian officials and experts and representatives of foreign media, foreign states and organizations to the meetings of the Commission“, he said and added that the Commission receives relevant information from all possible sources. Requests have already been sent to all Russian law enforcement agencies, as well as to governmental structures and other organizations.

noted earlier, that the question of interfering in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation is extremely important, and the decision to create a commission to investigate this issue is logical.

“We made a decision based on the principle that our country strictly adheres, non-interference in the sovereign affairs of other states. We believe that this principle should be the basis for building relations with the Russian Federation,” he stressed.

“We will do everything in order to ensure our sovereignty,” said Viacheslav Volodin.
