Leonid Slutskiy considers the results of the meeting of Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron as a forward step

The Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, the coordinator of Interparliamentary Group on interaction with Parliament of the French Republic, noted that this is a step both towards development of bilateral cooperation and the "untying of the most complex knots of modern international politics"

He called the final statement of the French President Emmanuel Macron about the European future of Russia indicative. “We believe in a Europe stretching from Lisbon to Vladivostok,” the French leader said. “This is the very concept of “Greater Europe”, the idea of which belongs to great Charles de Gaulle,” the parliamentarian recalled and emphasized that our country supports such approaches.

“But for their implementation it is necessary to take considerable way and abandon dividing lines on the common European continent. And, of course, the anti-Russian sanctions dictated to Europe from overseas absolutely do not fit into such a context,” said Leonid Slutskiy Slutsky Leonid Eduardovich Slutsky

He believes that France could become a “flagship” in the process of lifting of the EU sanctions against Russia. “First of all, it would be logical to remove all restriction measures from parliamentarians, as it is contrary to the very nature of parliamentarism,” the Chairman of the Committee stressed.
