Viacheslav Volodin: interest in Forum “Development of Parliamentarism” is growing because everyone there has the right to express opinion

This year, the Forum, which is held upon the initiative of the State Duma, will be attended by representatives of 132 states — about 800 parliamentarians and experts. More than 40 speakers from national parliaments are expected to attend the Forum.

noted the importance of inter-parliamentary relations and parliamentary diplomacy in the modern world.

“The International Forum “Development of Parliamentarism”, which today united us, is being held for the second time. This time the number of participants has grown significantly, last year there were 19 speakers, this year there are 41. Also last year only 96 countries were represented, this year more than 800 parliamentarians and experts from 132 countries will take part in the Forum. This suggests that the interest in the Forum is growing because on this platform everyone has the right to express his position and be heard,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.

“I believe that the dialogue to be held within the framework of the Forum will contribute to a constructive solution of the most pressing international and regional problems for the benefit of our citizens,” said Viacheslav Volodin.

The Chairman of the State Duma also congratulated the Forum participants on the International Day of Parliamentarism, noting that ”this new holiday has been celebrated only since 2018 but it emphasizes the importance of the role of national parliaments in the global space.“

On June 30, participants of the Second International Forum “Development of Parliamentarism” visited the opera “Masked Ball” performed by masters of the Bolshoi Theater as part of the cultural program.
