State Duma approved the law on ratification of the Treaty on the Basics of Relations with the Commonwealth of Dominica

The Duma considered the issue of a draft federal law “On ratification of the Treaty on the Basics of Relations between the Russian Federation and the Commonwealth of Dominica”. Member of the Committee on International Affairs Iurii Levitskii noted that this bilateral Treaty is among the basic ones defining the legal basis of relations between our states. Dominica is a full member of the United Nations and a lot of international and regional organizations that are very important to Russia

He noted that the Committee on International Affairs certainly supports the adoption of the draft federal law on ratification of the Treaty between Russia and Dominica introduced by the President of the Russian Federation.

“This bilateral Treaty is among the basic ones defining the legal basis of relations between our states. Dominica is a full member of the United Nations and a lot of international and regional organizations that are very important to Russia,” said Iurii Levitskii. He stressed that “we are interested in the development of friendly relations with this state in all spheres of mutual interest.”

Member of the Committee on International Affairs also reminded that last year the Agreement on visa-free entry for citizens of both countries was signed between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica. The Agreement entered into force on January 14, 2019. This Agreement is important in light of the development of tourism, business and humanitarian ties, as well as a positive impact on our political relations, said parliamentarian. 

The adopted Treaty defines the main areas of possible cooperation in the crucial Caribbean region.
