The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
told parliamentary reporters after a meeting of the State Duma Council.

He reminded that at the first meeting of the PACE summer session the issue of amending the regulations of the Assembly would be considered. “According to proposed amendments the credentials of national delegations on three main issues should be protected: participation in the PACE’s work, right to vote and speak,“ informed the Chairman of the State Duma. Invitation of the Russian delegation to participate in PACE work will also be considered that day.

“If such a decision is taken on June 24, and PACE decides to amend the Regulation, the Russian delegation will leave for Strasbourg in the evening of June 24, on Monday,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.

However, Viacheslav Volodin stressed that “now we can only say that for our part, we did everything to ensure that this dialogue takes place, we stand for the equality of all national delegations. All the decisions we make are exclusively in the interests of the citizens of our country. ”

The Chairman of the State Duma clarified that “at the meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, 39 countries out of 47 supported amendments to the Regulation and the necessity of the participation of the Russian delegation in the PACE work. Therefore, we hope for a positive result.“

According to Viacheslav Volodin, now each of the political factions of the State Duma should decide what PACE factions their delegation members will be part of.
