It is proposed to suspend the Treaty between the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the United States of America on the Elimination of Their Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles, signed in Washington on December 8, 1987.

The decision on the renewal of the Treaty between the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the United States of America on the Elimination of Their Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles by the Russian Federation is to be made by the President of the Russian Federation, the document says.

, previously stressed that the suspension of the Treaty is caused by the need to protect Russia's national interests.

He reminded that Russia had done everything to preserve the contractual relations and obligations that had been taken by the USSR and the USA in 1987 and guaranteed global security for all countries in the world.

“But the actions of the United States of America lead to violation of this Treaty, and our repeated proposals to preserve contractual obligations were unsuccessful,” he said.
