“First of all, we are talking about industrial cooperation, the development of digital technologies, nuclear energy, and research of the earth surface for agricultural and other purposes. All these agreements are aimed at resolving issues that are important for citizens and that are necessary for the further development of our countries,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
Viacheslav Volodin also reported that bilateral trade increased by 1.9% achieving $2.1 billion.
“Over eight hundred companies with Russian capital operate in your country. As a result, today Russia is the third largest foreign trade Serbian partner in terms of trade turnover,” he added.
According to him, the parliamentarians of the two countries need to discuss what else can be done within the parliamentary dimension in order to bring this positive dynamic to a higher level.
He noted that the priority shall be given to joint projects in the energy sector, an example of such a mutually beneficial partnership is the oil refinery in Pančevo.
Viacheslav Volodin also drew attention to the importance of expanding humanitarian contacts, scientific and educational exchanges.
About 300 students from Serbia are currently studying in Russia. The quota for those wishing to study at Russian universities will be increased again, 122 scholarships have been allocated for Serbian students.
“Comparing with other countries these are far from record numbers. At the parliamentary level, it would be right to promote the increase of the number of Serbian students at Russian universities and Russian students at Serbian educational institutions,” he said.
