Fighting double standards
“There are more challenges in modern world. The practice of double standards, interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states becomes the norm for some countries. We think this is unacceptable,” he said.
The Chairman of the State Duma stressed that it is necessary to confront these challenges, “if we want to preserve our people, country, its sovereignty and independence.”

He recalled that sanctions, blockades, trade wars are increasingly spreading around the world.
“Countries that used these illegal measures under the guise of promoting democratic values do not hesitate now to push roughly their economic interests,” said the Chairman of the State Duma.
Thus, American trade sanctions were imposed against Russia, China, Turkey, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela.
“European countries and companies also receive ultimatums, threats and calls to stop implementation of joint economic projects,” he said.
“But the world will never be unipolar, no matter how much the United States wants it. And the sooner their authorities understand this, the better it will be for everyone and for the United States itself,” Viacheslav Volodin stressed.
According to the Chairman of the State Duma, imposing one's will on other countries is unacceptable. “Serbian people have choses their sovereign path based on spiritual values, preservation of cultural and historical traditions. As well as the Russian people have done. And together with you, we condemn provocations against Serbian people in Kosovo,” he said.
Situation in Kosovo
The Chairman of the State Duma stressed that the invasion of the Kosovo-Albanian special forces in the north of Kosovo on May 28 was a provocative step aimed at intimidation of the Serbs and imposition of control over these areas by force.
“We consider the detention of diplomats, the UN Mission employees in Kosovo, including a citizen of the Russian Federation, as a complete neglect of international law,” he said.
Viacheslav Volodin stressed that the United Nations should state its position on this situation.
“We consider the actions of the European Union and the United States unacceptable, which led to an increase in tension in the region and undermines the long-standing work of the international community on a peaceful settlement in the Balkans,” he added.
“The absence of a clear reaction of the European Union on the provocative actions of the Kosovars calls into question the EU’s ability to serve as intermediary in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.”
The Chairman of the State Duma stressed that all parties should implement the UN Security Council Resolution 1244, and those that do not adhere to these resolutions should be held responsible.
“The interests of sovereign Serbia should be fully taken into account in accordance with international law,” he said.
