“Changes in the political setup reflected at the elections were caused by accumulated questions to politicians, unresolved problems of citizens, primarily in the economic sphere and migration policy, as well as growing demand for reinforcement of the role of nation-states in decision making in the European Parliament,” said Viacheslav Volodin Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin

“The Europeans vote primarily for a prosperous and independent Europe, they want the interests of countries to be taken into account in a larger scale and to preserve the foundations of sovereignty. Russia also wants to see such Europe. Blind support of the course imposed on the European Union from overseas, anti-Russian attacks and provocations should become a thing of the past,” said Viacheslav Volodin.

”The Europeans make a request for a pragmatic sovereign course, and it is important for EU politicians to hear the will of their people,“ the Chairman of the State Duma noted.

“Despite our differences, the European Union remains our neighbor and the largest trade and economic partner,” he stressed. “It is important that the parliamentarians elected to the new composition of the European Parliament are ready for new approaches and an equitable dialogue with Russia,” added Viacheslav Volodin.

“For our part, we always emphasize the pursuit of the course on non-interference in the affairs of sovereign states, trust, and absence of double standards. Relations should be built on the basis of dialogue and consideration of the interests of all countries,” the Chairman of the State Duma emphasized.
