The State Duma football team played with the team of members of the German Bundestag, beating the German parliamentarians 2:1. The match took place at the stadium of the sports club ”Siemensstadt“ in the capital district of Spandau in Berlin on May 6.
The match began with a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the plane crash at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport, which killed 41 people. Before the match, the captain of the Bundestag team, Mahmut Özdemir, on behalf of the German side expressed condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
The German parliamentarian reminded that the parliamentarians of the two countries discussed “critical topics and exchanged points of view on them” before the game. “Sometimes friends have to say not so pleasant things to each other,” said Mahmut Özdemir.
“We want to continue working in the sphere of our parliamentary cooperation,” said the member of the Bundestag.
