Andrej Danko, Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, was invited as a guest to the parade to commemorate the 74th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 that will take place on May 9.

The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
invited Slovak colleague to the Victory Parade.

On November 15, 2017, speaking at the plenary meeting of the State Duma, Andrej Danko noted that the Slovak people had never questioned the role of the Red Army in the liberation of the country. ”Slovakia has always respected the heroism of the Russian and Soviet soldiers and those who died on our territory during the Second World War,“ he stressed.

“With honor and piety we remember the Soviet partisans who fought side by side with the Slovaks in 1944 during the Slovak national uprising,” said Andrej Danko. “It was the biggest uprising in Europe during the Second World War. It showed the determination of our people to fight for freedom and against fascism, it would be very difficult for us to fight without your heroic help,” added the Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic.
