Speaking to the parliamentarians, João Lourenço noted that ”Angola can be proud that it has always received maximum Russian support and solidarity, starting from the most difficult times of our struggle for national liberation and our resistance to external aggression.“

“I believe that this support and solidarity will take new forms, including forms of larger and longer-term investments in Angola. It should be emphasized that our countries have always adhered to similar positions in the struggle to build world peace and more equitable economic relations in terms of ensuring the equal right of peoples to social development and well-being,” he stressed.

João Lourenço noted that several cooperation agreements between Angola and Russia are now being negotiated.

“Several other agreements, in particular, an agreement on cooperation in the field of space exploration for peaceful purposes, in the field of investment, merchant shipping, and mutual recognition of diplomas are being negotiated,” said the President.

João Lourenço also said that Angola highly appreciates Russia's participation in solving global issues.

“We highly appreciate the participation of the Government of the Russian Federation in resolving issues that may also be constant concern to the Government of the Republic of Angola. For example, environmental protection, combating global warming, air pollution, large-scale desertification,” he stressed.

“The Republic of Angola and the Russian Federation have always been united by close views on international situations,” said João Lourenço.

“And there is a noticeable resemblance of our positions in relation to respecting the sovereignty and fighting interference in the internal affairs of other states. […] Our country has always supported peaceful dialogue and negotiations, condemning the use or the threat to use force as a form of conflict resolution,” said the President.

“The Republic of Angola and the Russian Federation have always been in favor of building a better world, a world without wars, where energy and food security would prevail, a world where there would be much less hunger, poverty, and epidemics, where the fight against terrorism, human trafficking, drug trafficking, illegal migration, international crime would be intensified. A world where government and civil society organizations would more responsibly address the problems of water, air and ocean pollution, which, as we know, is the main problem of climate change that have serious consequences for all world population. And we are striving to create a world that would return hope and dignity to the current [generation] and create these conditions for future generations,” he concluded.
