because of false accusations of having links with mafia.
“Due to the fact that the allegations of having links with so- called Russian mafia in Spain were not confirmed, I asked Senator Ben Cardin to change his attitude and position, as well as to initiate the exclusion of our colleague Vladislav M. Reznik from the sanctions lists of the United States of America” Leonid Slutskiy noted.
The head of the Committee stressed that he had received a response from Senator Ben Cardin, who, in particular, indicated that the member of the State Duma Vladislav Reznik had been included in the sanctions list because of his “contribution to the war in South-Eastern Ukraine and the occupation of the Crimea.”
“We see that the American political establishment […] is not interested in logic, they are guided only by their general tendencies,” said Leonid Slutskiy.

Volodin
Vyacheslav Victorovich
The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
noted that in any case, “especially when initiating
such responsible decisions as inclusion in the sanctions list, politicians
should be guided by the law and only by the law.”
“If our colleague, a representative of the parliament of the United States of America, initiating the accusations of Mr. Reznik, was guided by rumors and speculation, and then there is the decision of the Spanish court, he must either apologize or, insisting on his own suggestion, give arguments. Consequently, only after that we will be able to understand that his position is not politicized, but is based on the law,” the Chairman of the State Duma stressed.
Viacheslav Volodin also instructed Leonid Slutskiy to consider this issue on the basis of international legal norms.
“Please, consider the question on the basis of international legal norms that exist today of bringing Mr. Ben Cardin to justice for disseminating false information regarding our colleague,” he said.
“We should also develop mechanisms to protect Russian politicians for not being discredited,” Viacheslav Volodin stressed.
In addition, he gave the example of the situation with Google, when following the remarks of members of the State Duma, the company made changes to its map services, where the Crimea peninsula had not previously been shown as the territory of the Russian Federation.
“The facts have been confirmed. The company corrected the wrong mapping, it did everything to enter the legal fold and continue to work in accordance with the norm of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, our laws,” Viacheslav Volodin concluded.
