The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation. Elected in single mandate constituency № 163 (Saratov constituency - Saratov Oblast)
held a meeting with President of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Franklin Graham.
The parties exchanged views on the state of US-Russia relations, discussed the implementation of humanitarian projects, as well as the possibility of intensifying contacts between the State Duma and the US Congress.
Franklin Graham was born on July 14, 1952, his father Billy Graham was one of the most influential American religious leaders, pastor of a Baptist church, television and radio preacher, spiritual adviser to US Presidents from Harry Truman to Barack Obama, a close friend of Dwight D. Eisenhower, Richard Nixon and Lyndon B. Johnson. In 1982–1992 he visited several times the USSR and the post-Soviet countries.
Since 1979, Franklin Graham has served as President of the Samaritan’s Purse Organization (engaged in providing humanitarian aid in more than 100 countries). Since 1989, he has been taking part in the work of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. In 2000 he became the CEO, and in 2002 — the President of this organization.
